The Progress of Dentistry in Saudi Arabia
Modern technology in various aspects of health sciences has come into vogue. Since Dentistry is an integral section of it, people have become aware of its relevance in their existence. In-depth studies on a consumer perspective basis has been made to satisfy the thriving pursuits in oral and dental health care.
Concern for continuing education in all fields of sciences is imperative. For the past decade the Saudi Dental Meeting has served this purpose among dental practitioners in the Kingdom. Researchers, specialists, and clinicians in various disciplines of Dentistry shared their knowledge which has improved our dental practice. This has somehow resulted in a better informed dental community, and more dentally aware citizens.
Thus, the recently launched Saudi Dental Journals one of the results of this awareness. The dental community in the Kingdom and neighboring Arab countries are now provided with an educational tool that would keep them abreast in Dentistry. We virtually appreciate the constructive criticisms received in relation to this premier issue. We admit that the Journal would have not come into existence had it not been for the joint efforts and supports of our colleagues in the dental profession.
The 6th Saudi Dental Meeting that will be held on January 29 - February 1,1990 corresponding to Rajab 3-6, 1410 H, will further enhance our continuing education in the profession - keeping in mind the benefits and new knowledge that could be gained to further improve the standards of our dental practice. The meeting will be an excellent opportunity for us to select highly qualified research papers for publication in the Journal. Abstracts of all accepted papers for the meeting will also be published in the next issue. Speakers from inside and outside the Kingdom are invited to share with us their successful scientific achievements in their chosen fields. Current trends in Dentistry, its clinical application and inevitably transforming stratagem, as well as the concern for its future, will be addressed.
