Dentistry and the future In today's technology-conscious world, Dentistry is one of the sciences which is progressing rapidly due to the society's urgent need for a dental practice that offers an astute and circumspect service as well as a costless, painless, and lifetime period of treatment done. To achieve these goals of continuously improving the different procedures in dental practice, there is a compelling need for a gross research work - the responsibility of which lies on the professionals in various disciplines who belong to this community. One way of being involved in the advancement of the profession is through the organization of scientific meetings which the Saudi Dental Society hosts in collaboration with the King Saud University College of Dentistry. The Society is honored to participate in the preparation and arrangements of the forthcoming 6th Saudi Dental Meeting. This meeting is the major and greatest dental event in the region being organized by the University every two years. The theme of the meeting is "The Current Trends in Dentistry". Issues concerning new techniques, methods, and materials will be discussed as oral presentations, table clinics, and poster sessions. Exhibition of latest dental materials and equipments will also be shown throughout the meeting. The Saudi Dental Journal takes this opportunity with great pride to welcome all the participants of the 6th Saudi Dental Meeting, and looks forward once more to the success of the event.
