A Sense Of Accomplishment

The Saudi Dental Journal launched two years ago was the successful culmination of the onerous efforts and initiatives taken by the Saudi Dental Society and the King Saud University College of Dentistry. This publication is of great significance for the dental profession in Saudi Arabia.
Over these two years, it is but fitting to look back with great pride at the Journal's achievements. This can be attributed to the laudable commendations received, both nationally and internationally, in addition to the increasing number of subscriptions. However, there is one very essential factor in this success - the organizational communication sys tem of the Editorial Board. The Journal is extremely proud of the selfless and devoted service of its editorial board members during this period. Their positively critical and analytical skills in the assess ment and evaluation of the submitted manuscripts had contributed a great deal to this success. The Advisory Board members who are preeminent in their chosen fields - be they dental education, research, or service, or all combined, deserve equal praise.
It has been noteworthy that since the launching of the journal in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a reassuring guidance and knowledge have stimu lated our dental community. Publication of scienti fically-based research and clinical applications have broadened the knowledge of the dental pro fessionals in the Kingdom in relation to their every day practice. Thus, as we thrust into the future of a rapidly expanding denta! profession our task must be one of constructing strategies to meet the pre ventive, curative, and sustained quality of oral health demands of our patients.
The College of Dentistry continues to play a very important role in the educational growth of our aspiring dental practitioners through academic cur ricula and programs designed for this objective. At the same time, a high degree of competence is maintained by the quality of the faculty. The net result has been a decent undergraduate dental edu cation program in our College.
The recently-established Graduate Program in Prosthodontics at the College of Dentistry is also on course. There are near-ready plans to institute other graduate programs in the various dental dis ciplines of the College. Postgraduate Dental Educa tion, in its young age, is being watched with great interest in Saudi Arabia as the College Directorate unfolds plans for expanded programs.
As we move along into the future, the Saudi Den tal Journal wishes to offer its best to enhance the educational growth of the dental profession in the Kingdom. It also hopes to maintain its quality, integrity and service within defined success. The men and women whose insights had undoubtedly contributed to this fulfillment are gratefully acknowledged.
The Saudi Dental Journal takes this opportunity to render its heartfelt gratitude to those people whose steadfast effort had brought its success. To those reviewers who spared time and provided professional and intellectual stimulation, to those who resolutely stood with us regardless of some unavoidable pitfalls, to the companies who willin gly sustained our needs for publication of the most recent technologies in dental instrumentation, and to those who generously shared their knowledge to our pursuit par excellence - we say a big thank
you. Special thanks are equally due to King Saud University for its unceasing support and guidance. And most of all to Allah, the Almighty without whose blessings our Journal could have not been in existence.
