Saudi Board In Advanced General Dentistry (SBAGD)

The Saudi Board in Advanced General Dentistry is an educational program designed to provide clinical, didactic and hospital experience at the postgraduate level in Saudi Arabia. The instruction and experience provided in (SBAGD) prepare residents to meet the oral health needs of a wide range of ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients. As a result of several meetings, discussions and literature reviews, the (SBAGD) Committee has produced a program which contains standards and criteria for a training health center, job descriptions of trainers/supervisors and guidelines on application for recognition and accreditation. It has to be acknowledged that this is not meant to be a comprehensive but rather a basis for further improvement and development overtime. The main objective is to train and graduate competent knowledgeable specialists in advanced general dentistry. At the completion of the Board, the graduates should be capable of functioning independently in providing an educational environment that promotes the specified standards of delivery of health care. Specifically (SBAGD) program prepares residents to:

  1. Diagnose oral and maxillofacial diseases and provide dental care in the context of each patient's oral health needs.
  2. Communicate and function effectively with other health care professionals in a variety of health care settings and understand the role of such professionals and their organizational and functional settings.
  3. Plan and provide both routine and complex dental care for a wide variety of patients by applying advanced knowledge and clinical skills.
  4. Acquire experience in teaching and research to upgrade the clinical knowledge.
  5. Self-educate and update in the field of the specialty.
I wish that interested candidates will find the program meeting their needs and thereby serving the demand for high quality dental service in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
