Randa E. Shaker, BDS, MS,
FAGD
Concerns and
issues about root caries have increased in the last decade. This represents a clinical challenge today as
an increasing number of individuals are now living to an advanced age, and
their awareness of the importance of maintaining their natural teeth has
increased. This article reviews the
literature concerning root caries lesions, along with the risk factors
associated with their origin, diagnosis, prevention and treatment methods.
