Manuscript Preparation: All materials must be in English (except the abstract which must be in Arabic) and typed double-spaced on one side of standard ISO A4 size paper (210x297 mm) with 25 mm margins. The page number must be typed on the upper right-hand corner of each page, beginning with the title page. Each manuscript component should begin on a new page, in the following sequence:
Title Page: It should include the title of the article, the names of the authors with their qualifications and addresses. Affiliations of authors should be listed as footnotes. The author must indicate the full address where the reprint requests will be sent. A separate paragraph should specify the financial support of the study, if applicable, and/or the meeting at which aspects of the paper was presented or read.
Abstract Page: It should carry the title of the paper without the authors' name(s) with the objectives, materials, methods, results, and conclusions of the paper briefly stated. No other information should be on this page.
Arabic Summary: A full Arabic summary is required. It should be typewritten, double-spaced and approximately two whole pages in length. It should carry the title of the paper and a brief summary of the objectives, materials and methods, results and conclusions of the paper.
Text: Write only the title without the author's name.
Introduction: Clearly state the purpose of the article. Give pertinent references, and do not review the subject except as relevant to the methods and results which follows.
Methods: Describe clearly and concisely the methods including selection of observational and experimental subjects. Identify the method, apparatus, and procedures in sufficient detail to allow the results to be duplicated. The statistical test utilized should be mentioned.
Results: These should be presented in a logical sequence in the text of the manuscript. Repetition of data in the text and in the tables and illustrations should be avoided. Emphasis should only be on important observations.
Discussion: Repetition of results should be avoided. Rather, there should be an analytical discussion of the implications of the results and other observations as related to the study.
References: These should be kept to an acceptable minimum. References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are mentioned in the texts, tables or legends using Arabic numerals. References must be verified by the author(s) against the original quoted documents. Title of journals and books should be abbreviated according to the format used in Index Medicus.
Journal Article: Pashley DH, Michelich V. Dentin Permeability. J Prosthet Dent 1981; 46: 531 - 539. Book: Eisen HN. Immunology: An Introduction to molecular and cellular principles of the immune response. 5th ed. New York: Harper and Row, 1974:406.
Acknowledgment: Only persons who have made contributions to the study and/or to the preparation of the manuscript should be acknowledged.
Tables: Each table should be typed on a separate sheet, double-spaced. These should be consecutively numbered in Arabic as cited in the text with a brief self-explanatory title supplied for each. Other explanatory information should be placed as footnotes.
Illustrations: Black and white illustrations, up to approximately 127 mm x 178 mm, in the form of glossy prints could be reproduced free of charge, although the publisher reserves the right to establish a reasonable limit. Color illustrations can be published but only at the author's expense in the amount of SR 1,500 per page. Line and wash drawings should be professionally drawn and photographed with letterings, large enough to be easily read after necessary reduction. X-ray films, color slides, or glass plates are not accepted. Black and white prints of the correct intensity should instead be sent. A label should be pasted at the back of each of the prints indicating the illustration number, an arrow indicating the top portion, and the senior author's name.
Legends for Illustrations: Legends should be typed double-space, with Arabic numerals corresponding to the illustrations. Any symbol, arrow numbers, or letters used to identify parts of the illustration should be clearly explained in the legend. Method of staining in photomicrographs and state magnifications should be identified. Illustration legends must be typed on a separate page at the end of the manuscript.
Abbreviations and Symbols: Use only standard abbreviations. All units will be metric. Do not use Roman numerals. Abbreviations in the title should be avoided. The full term for which an abbreviation stands for must precede its first use in the text unless it is a clearly recognized standard unit of measurement.
Permission: Permission of author(s) and publisher(s) must be obtained for the use of previously published material [text, photographs, drawings] and must accompany the manuscript when it is submitted for consideration for publication; the Journal bears no responsibility for authors violating such rule.
Proofs, Offprints & Reprints: Page proofs will be sent to the corresponding author for checking and speedy return to the publisher. Offprints can be ordered at the time of printing while reprints can be printed subsequently but at greater costs.
